Assumption-Msgr. James J. Dorney Council has been meeting at Blessed Sacrament Parish in West Brighton, Staten Island since February, 2022 at which time the council's re-formation began. In that time, we have continued to do the work that Blessed Fr. Michael McGivney envisioned.We have supported the school by participating in the matching funds program. Three of their eigth grade students have won partial four year scholarships offered by the New York State Council. The council has awarded cash grants to worthy eighth grade students attending a Catholic High School.

Donations have been made to the parish food pantry. A Knights of Columbus kiosk has been bought and maintained. We participate in the parish's Eucharistic Adoration Program on First Friday and have sponsored parish events.

Our members are Eucharistic ministers, Hospitality ministers, Lectors, members of the parish council and other parish groups.

We have sponsored seminarians and have participated in parish events. We have earned the Columbian Award for 2023-2024 and are striving for the Star Award for 2024-2025.
